Roosa-master fuel pump on 560

Can anyone tell me about how to stop fuel leaking from the little governor block on the bottom of the fuel pump on a 560 D. My local IH dealer sent me an oval gasket to put between the block and the pump, and now it leaks worse than ever, but surely this is not supposed to be metal to metal is it? The block is held on by one 12 point bolt about 3/8 diameter and it has an o-ring around it, but where it is leaking is right next to that where the stub shaft with the ball on the end sticks down out of the fuel pump. Any help would be appreciated.

Harley1983,

The oval shaped o-ring should take care of your leak. I've rebuilt about a dozen of these model Roosa pumps. The fuel will leak from around the stubshaft, but the oval o-ring should stop that problem. That o-ring is hard to get to seat in the groove, but it can be done on the tractor. Take your time and make sure everything is CLEAN when you reassemble. Any dirt in there will cause the o-ring or the governor block not to seat, and will cause leaking. E-mail me if you would like more information.

Harley there were 2 different pumps for the 560 so a little hard to say put do believe yours should have an o ring I thing it would be hard to replace on the tractor.

Thanks guys. I'll sleep tonight, take a deep breath, and try it again in the morning. I can see on the bottom of the pump, and I can also feel it and there seems to be a grove for the o-ring around the bolt, but there doesn't seem to be a groove on either piece for the oval ring. I will look again tomorrow. Thanks, Harley

Found out what it is, and hope this might help someone else. There isn't supposed to be fuel around the "advance shaft" that sticks out the bottom of the pump. That means that it is leaking up inside somewhere. Yep, $450 to $500 rebuild job. I am so thrilled. Oh well, at least it's red. Thanks for all the help, harley
