are these okay balers or should i stay away? i only plan on about 50 acres of hay. the dealer is asking $500. i haven't seen it yet. just want to know if it's even worth the drive to look at(1 1/2 hours away). thanks

For 50 acres of hay you should get a newer, higher capacity baler. One day's baling of hay lost to a breakdown and rain would pay for a lot better machine. And you'll need either a reliable kicker or an energetic crew to stack the bales.

By the way, If you have your heart set on that baler, offer the dealer about $200. I doubt he gave more than $50 when it was traded in.

I would think that the 27 is a pretty good baler, but it does not have a very large capacity. I have a 37 and do not think that I would want a smaller baler. I catch myself trying to push to much hay through it quite a bit. Dad's 430 is really the way to go. You can push the hay through it and it still never misses a beat.
