Farmallkid: I was at an auction yesterday in Thedford, mostly newer Deere tractors, about 14, and only 1 - 2 cylinder that I saw. There was a good size Allis, an IH 660D, SC with cultivators and a sweetheart of a 240 Utility, I went there precisely for. I registered, stood around in the rain and freezing rain for an hour. Picked up a schedule of order of selling, watched about 2 dozen guys look the 240 over keenly. Decided it wasn't worth my while standing around for another 4 hours in whatever the good lord intended to rain down on us, only to bid against these 2 dozen guys. I promptly decided home by the fireside was the best place for me. I have no idea what things sold for. If I hear I will let you know. I have been hearing a few prices though, and I'm doubtful $1,200. Can is going to take any of those tractors. It will not take a lot more than that though. $1,600. will do it, $1,200 will take the A if no attachments. I agree with Paul, you should go for the H. You and his buddies all have H's and M's. There are two or three more auctions up this way next week, I will keep you posted on prices. I warn you though, no reports if temp is hovering on freezing in the rain.
