450 PTO lever lock plate

How do you remove the lever lock plate from the PTO houseing the one I have is broken and I want to fix it so that the PTO doesn't start turning when it not suppose to. The IT manaul doesn't show how it comes off. Thanks for any help with this

It's simple. I did it in the field many years ago. Take out the pivot bolt. It is probably a shoulder bolt. Pull the pin and cotter pin that connects to the shielded spring. Handle should come off. The plate is now accessible. Probably two bolts hold it on.

One word of caution. That plate is hardened. If you replace it with a homemade mild steel plate, it probably won't last very long. The lever might whack your arm or elbow when you least expect it. You should try to get NOS or used from a salvage yard.
