Farmall Cub is a QUITTER!

I was planning to plant a few rows of corn this past weekend, so I cranked up the cub, just like I had for the past few weekends, and as soon as I would let off the clutch it would move a foot or two then quit. No matter how much throttle I give it, the motor peters out. In neutral, the engine will run good, even at full throttle. I was wondering if anyone has had this experience and what they did to fix it. My gut feeling is that it is somehow starving for fuel.
Thanks for your time.

Robert, while you've got your air compressor out, blow back up through the fuel line into the tank. Rust or trash may be stuck in the line.

Invest 5 more minutes in the Cub. Use a 3/8" box end wrench, remove the brass hex "plug" in the side of the carburetor. That is the high speed jet. With a smooth wire and compressed air clean the holes in the jet, especially the small one centered in the threaded end- that is the critical metering hole. Do not enlarge the hole in any way. Check to see if good flow of fuel out of the jet hole in the carburetor. If good fuel flow, reinstall the jet and let us know the results.
