Was wondering the correct way to reinstall the rods on my (H). the only markings that I see on the rods are punch marks indicating 1,2,3,4 cylinders. The rods are off set, if I remember right the cap faces the intake side, but I just wanted to double check beffore making a huge time consuming mistake. The book I ordered 3 weeks ago has still not arrived !
thanks,

one thing that is easy to remember if you don't know is that the number on the rod and on the cap always faces the cam shaft.

The longer side of the rod, not the cap side, will be on the side of the camshaft. ChadS

The flat spot where the rods and caps are marked goes towards the cam. Use 0.005" feeler gauges along side the rod / cap joint to make sure they are aligned properly when tightening the rod bolts (40 ft. lb.). If they feel too tight (slightly twisted), remove and reinstall the caps.
