Do I need to do this only once, or every time before I start it up. Got new regulator and generator, and don't know how to do this. Searched this forum, and think that I need to touch the GEN and BAT terminals together for a sec. Is this right? Thanks.

Jarrett

Hi Jarrett: Yes you momentarily touch the ARM and BATT trminals together on the reg witha jumper wire. Once should do it. Before starting. Do not touch the field contact on regulator. ZZIIIPPP if you do. New REG. Also make sure that battery is connected properly. Should be pos. ground. Old Dutch

I have done it before but can't remember which ones you have to connect, although it sounds like you've got the right ones (should wait for confirmation on that because if you get the wrong two I've heard it's possible to toast the regulator). When you do it you should get a spark (you should either see or hear it, maybe both). You only need to do this once unless you replace the regulator or accidentily hook the battery up the wrong way round sometime. Hope this helps. SAm in NS
