I like the wide also. At the risk of an argument, most people don't know a narrow front is more stable than a WF with a loader. The wide looks more stable but. ON WF the front pivot just pivots and adds no stability. On a NF the width of the front tires actually gives the tractor a slightly wider front base for stability. I'm talking about working on a hard flat surface. Rough ground may be a different story.

I learned this many years ago. Anyone agree or not. Bill

I see what you mean and understand what you are saying about the narrow front being more stable. The only problem with this is that at the time when you most need the stability at the extremes the NFE is less stable. You are only really worried about upsetting the tractor on a steep slope or when cornering at speed with the bucket up (or down if you're going too fast). Little will change with the NFE as the tractor starts to tip (sideways) and the tractor will pivot around where the inside or downhill tire meets the ground. Whereas with the WFE things will change as the tractor starts to tip. Initially the tractor will pivot around the front axle pivot. All the WFE's I've seen have a limited pivot so as the tractor tips the tip point will move to the inside or downhill end of the WFE. This is much further from the tractor and should make it more stable. This is just the way I see it anyway. Hope this helps. SAm in NS

I ain't buyin' it, Sam. By the time your tractor tips far enough to rely on that pivot stop, it's too late. The rear end has started over with enough momentum it'll take that lil 'ol WFE right along with it.Mguy.

I have a '53 Super A which I have been using for snow plowing. Where I'm plowing is fairly flat. I've had enough of a difference between the height of the rear wheels to lift one of the front wheels 6" to a 1' off the ground. If there had been a narrow front in the same place it would have gone over. We had a storm come through that dumped over 3' of snow in 24hrs and I backed over a snow bank that was rather more solid that it looked. I won't be making that mistake again in a hurry. SAm in NS

I like both and have both. Really though, my favorite perspective of any tractor is from the rear and slightly to one side, so I guess either front would work for me. Funny, I think the first time I saw my wife I was looking at her from the rear and slightly to one side...I wonder what that means?

I guess it depends on what you grow up with. I didn't see wide fronts and so to me the H and Ms look right with the narrow front. Seems it fits their styling, and the wide front looks like something added on. But I like 'em all and am glad for variety in opinions.

The biggest problem with any tractor with wide front end is hauling it. You can only fit 4 tractors with wide fronts on a truck but you can fit 8 with narrow fronts, saves a lot of trips going to shows.

front it,s a sweet little tractor.
I think the bigger boys (H's & M's etc.) look
great sporting wide front ends too.
But no matter what size or style,I just plain
Luv'em ole Red Tractors!

I don't know. I was raised with an H, M, and Super M all with NF. WFs had to grow on me. I now have a couple of each. I think the C looks better with a NF, and BOY, can they turn short!!! I think the bigger ones (Ms and SMs, look good with the WF. I'm not sure which looks better to me on the H. My 2cents.

Me to Farmallkid, All seven of my tractors have wide fronts on them. I guess you could even say my TD9 has a wide front.

I know an artist that loves WFE more than you do. He painted a farm scene (you've probably seen it) of ear corn crib, corn sheller, wagons and elevators all powered by green tractors and all tractors but one had WFE. Which of those tractors did the farmer change to a narrow front to cultivate, mount a picker, and late season spray with? I like and have WFE but they sure weren't common in corn rows in the 50's and 60's. My nickel Dick Davis.

If you ask anyone who has used both wide and narrow with a loader such as moving dirt, manure, hay etc, and they tell you they like the narrow, you can bet they haven't done much of it. Spent over 30 years with both and have turned over more narrow front end tractors doing loader work than I can count. Never turned over a single WFE. Also much more stable doing rowcrop work. If you are in rowcrops that are too tall for the front axle, you are way late with what you should be doing.
