I just purchased a Farmall H - It has been converted to 12 volt some time ago. Having problems with battery going dead. Everything works - lights, starter, etc but even with ignition switch off and lights off, battery goes stone dead by next morning. New battery makes no difference. Bad alternator? or is there a hidden draw somwhere? how do I find the draw? Thanks.

Most likely one of the diodes INSIDE the alternator are damaged causing the battery to run down.
Any competent electrical shop can replace them; you can do it yourself if you have basic skills.
You need an ohm-meter to test the diodes.
The common Delco S-10 has 6 diodes (3+, 3-) and a diode trio internaly.
Of course, you could buy a replacement alternator, but that takes all the fun out of "doing it yourself".
Good Luck

Tractor Vet is probably right. You need a diode to keep the electricity from flowing back through the alternator. Check the advertisers on this site for 12-volt conversion kits. When I converted mine I bought a wiring harness that already had the diode wired in. It's probably something you could buy at Radio Shack, but I don't know the spec for it.

It probably has one of them dumb one wire delco alt. oon it and is draining back thru the alt. If ya got a test lite pull the ground off the battery and hook the test lite up to the ground cable and touch the test lite to the ground on the battery if the lite lights up then start removing wires till it goes out and that one is the problem .
