First off, let me say that I am not a total idiot, but.....
Spacers provided with the manual lift kit (Woods) for my Farmall A (1946), put the arm right THROUGH the steering shaft! I tried it without spacers, and it seems to fit fine BETWEEN hood and steering shaft. Problem is, sheet from Woods specifies "spacer for IHC A&C". Also, cover of book "How To Restore Your Farm Tractor" (Pripps) shows a Farmall A, with Woods deck and Manual Lift, and the lift arm is definately OUTSIDE the steering shaft. What the %$&@@% am I doing wrong??
Okay, there is an outside chance that I am a total idiot..... ...Stan

Since you are so frustrated and since I can easily get to Erie, simply sell it to me at a modest price. Oh by the way there is a M in our Butler Eagle paper ads for $1500. They say it run well and all sounds good . Give me a call and I will hook you up with a number. Mine is 724-282-8264. Good luck with the spacer thing.

Use enough spacers to move the lever outside the steering shaft. I used two pieces of square tubing to make mine. The last new mower i got had enough of the thick washers to move the lever outside the steering shaft. The lever is easier when it is outside the shaft.

Stan: Send me an E mail and I can send you a photo of one completely assembled, but not on tractor. I just took it off a B on Sat and lever was to the right of steering shaft.

Stan, I have that lift lever on my 42 A and use it for my snowplow. I just bought the liftlever itself and fabricated the other parts myself. My lever fits inbetween the gas tank and steering shaft. The only problem with that is that you have to be careful to not smash your hand on the steering shaft. But the plow is heavy enough that it has not happened yet. When it does, Im sure I will make another spacer and get that lever on the outside of the steering shaft! So what Im saying is to bring the lever father away from the tractor you need more spacers. Thats about it.
