Back to bother you guys again. Got to get the injection pump rebuilt and injectors checked on my 1206. I was wondering if anybody had any pointers for me when I take this stuff off or when I put it back on.

Do I have to drain the coolant? Any gaskets or o-rings I should pick up to put it back on? How do I bleed the system after I get it back on? Am I alright to just put it in time and pull the pump?

Thanks for any help.

Chad

Chad you should drain the water because could pull the brass sleeve the injector is in. That the time plate off the out side of the pump and make sure the to back lines line up when the timing marks on the flywheel are lined up you will have to find out just what degree to set it at. the pump shaft has to seals on it one for oil the first one for fuel when you put the pump back one make sure you don't turn the first one over or you will have fuel in the oil.

Good idea to drain the cooling system if it has been along time since the nozzles have been out. Turn the flywheel until you get to 8 degrees before top dead center. Make sure the markes in the injection pump are lined up under the small cover on the left side of the pump. If not turn the engine over another turn. Don't worry about the seals on the pump shaft you can't hurt them because they are in the pump adapter. The other person that answered you is thinking about a D 282. Just line the static timing up and pull the pump. Been working on IH 39 years
