Bandit, Lets see here, Hmmmm, Tractor exists, $100.00. It runs, add $400.00. Recent overhaul, runs good, add another $200.00. Tires hold air, add $100.00. No tread on tires, subtract the $100.00 Tin decent, add $200.00. Has PTO, add $150.00 Doesnt work right, deduct $50.00. Bandit, Im not trying to be a smart alec, which some people here will dispute, but as you can see, the value of a tractor is such a subjective thing, that its hard to put a definite price on it. So much depends on the overall condition, what you intend to do with it, and what would it mean to you to own it. Farmall A's are great tractors for use as mowing tractors, snow removal, gardening, and a multitude of things for the small farmer or gardener. They are also great tractors to restore, parade, and show. If the engine is as you say a recent overhaul and runs good without smoking to excess, and the tin is not beyond repair, then $1000.00 is not unreasonable. Just remember that if the grill is trashed, and so many of the A's had bent up grills because they stuck right out in front with no protection, then a new one will cost you over $400.00, and a decent used one well over $150.00. The rest of the parts are reasonable and available thru an entire network of sources. Even though The "A" is a small tractor, they were some of the best that IH ever produced, wittnessed by the fact that the basic design was produced from the "A" thru the "140" for well over 30 years. many are being used yet today in vegetable gardening areas, and tobacco farms, and for odd jobs arund larger farms. After all these years, they are still working. If you need to know something specific, there are people here to answer specific questions. Hugh MacKay is as knowledgable as anyone I know of since he has been around the "A's" or their variations all his life. Good luck, and I hope things work out.
