Mornin' All,

I've got to switch these bad boys side to side as the wheels are now dished in.

The local tire shop tells me that the fluid alone weighs 1,113 lbs. I guess it is time for a lot of blocking and time for the old loader to earn it's keep.

I think I'm gettin' too old for this stuff...

I changed my 1086's ond day and the way I did it was I took the rim loose from the wheel and laid it in aginst the cab. Then I took the cherrypicker and a chain and removed the wheel and took it off-turned it around-reistalled it and then put the rim back on. A lot more SCREWING bolts but a lot safer as you have one rear on the ground at all times.

Hagan,

WOW!! Boy do I like that one.....

Been fightin' with myself all day over this.

I've changed a lot of tractor tires, but I never ran fluid in most of them on account of ground compaction. When the tire co. told me how much that fluid weighed, it kinda throws a different light on my ambition. :>)

Thanks, that really makes good sense, leavin' that tire on the ground (both of 'em, really). This has got to be why you make the big bucks. :>)

Be Carefull ! Thats enough weight to crush some body. Looks like a job for twenty men and a boy ! You may consider hiring that one done.
Either way good luck !

I would suggest having the tire shop drain the fluid out, make your wheel changes, and have the fluid put back in. May cost a little but will be far cheaper than the doctors bills 8-))

Or if you don't need it see if they will take it. Around here they have more than they need.

Your right about the fun but I'm more concerned about your Safety. Sometimes it makes sense to pay someone to do jobs like that. Man that is a lot of weight. Please be careful.

Scotty,

Thanks for the kind words, but that setup doesn't belong to me.

The picture was taken before I bought the tractor from a man in Iowa; but, your're right, he's got quite a nice layout.

I'll be working on this 'ole gal out here in the gravel...

I'm trying to talk myself into just moving the rim over to the other ridge and switching the lugs end for end. Either way, it's not gonna be fun.

Later,

Allan

Allan, I bought my first tractor with FEL about 6 months ago and am trying to figure out how I managed without one for so long! Good luck on the rears and get some help before you start!
