Finally found a wide front for my M at a reasonable price.(Maybe others have been reasonable but this one is within my reach.)Now I have a few questions. 1. I understand there is an "early" and a "late" model, or design, and the main difference has to do with whether the steering linkage is front or rear mounted? This one appears to be front.(Whether it's right or wrong for my '47[?] matters not-- it's going on anyway. 2. Where can I get new wheel rims? I guess there's "early" and "late" here too, clamps or loops. My tractor now has loops, but I don't know yet which style the front uses, there are none with it. Even if it uses loops, mine are in poor shape. 3. One of the clamps on the axle tube is missing, can one of these be found? 4. Anything I need to watch out for or problems I may run into when installing it? When I get this on and the tractor & Farmhand F-10 loader painted, it'll be just like the one Gram'pa had (as far as I or my Dad can remember) Thanx a bunch guys an' hav a gud'un BW Northeast Colorado

Bruce, #1 Front mounted steering linkage is probably correct for your M unless you have an SM. #2 If your wheel hubs have a lip on the inside, it takes the rims with no loops, and you need lugs and bolts to hold them in place. If your wheel hubs have no lip, then you need the looped rims that require bolts but not lugs themselves. #3 The Axle tube clamp should be available at steelwheel ranch, or several other used part sources. #4 YOu should have no trouble installing the WFE if the reciever plate is correct. The H and M used the wame WFE, but different reciever plates. Other than that, good luck.

Bruce,

When ya get 'er all thrown together be sure and post a picture or two.

An old M with a F-10 was the very first tractor I ever drove at the age of 4 or 5.

I had watched my dad start the thing when I was riding in his lap at earlier times and so this one particular afternoon, I just crawled up on her, pulled on the switch and hit the starter.

He had left it in low gear, so away we went out in the middle of a beet field. When my mom frantically caught up with me, I was ready to get off anyway. :>)

Yep, yours takes the front with the steering out in front of the tube (Just make sure the front fits a M and not a H; they don't interchange).

Talk to Mike at SteelWheelRanch. He can fix up up with the parts you need.

Allan----- What part of the country are you from? An F-10 and a beet field, could be almost anywhere I suppose, but sounds like home. Was Farmhand equipment availability wide-spread, or a local deal? I know they were made here in Greeley, CO but were there more plants? BW

Bruce,

I'm right up the road from you a few hundred miles at Chadron, NE.

This country is lousey with Farmhands; they are all over and are absolutelly super equipment in my book.

But, I didn't know that they made 'em in Greeley. The local ag shops here can still get parts for the rascals; ---from somewhere??
