I recently pulled the left rear axle housing pan off to change the oil, and found in the bottom of the pan, what was left of the rear axle inner bearing washer. I need to replace it and I'm wondering if this will be a major job or easy fix.
I'm new to tractors and need a little guidance.
I really appreciate the response from the Farmall
enthusiasts on the internet with some of my questions in the past, so I hope someone can help me again, thanks

If you have had much wrench turning at all, this job won't be bad... it's pretty self evident once you get her apart.... Isn't that what it always says in the I&T Manuals? Seriously, it's not a bad job at all.

Thanks Dave for the follow up on my forum message.
I figure once I get the wheel off and loosen everything up, the axle will just pull out and I can slip in a new inner bearing washer. I'm wondering though, what could have caused that washer to destroy itself like that.? Is that somewhat common.?

Mike you might have to drive the axel out with a brass drift and a big hammer. You ask if its common. I don't know overall. But its happened to me twice on the left side on my B, over fifty years. I remember the first time best. I think if the cap screw on that side was left handed it wouldn't come out. Of course I would probably wreck things trying to get it out. I was finishing a land and both back wheels were in a furrow, as the furrows separated it wedged the wheel and axel out of bull gear and there I sat. Neighbors were working nearby and help put it back together. The washer you are talking about fell into the pan, we didn't know it was there. Later in cold weather the washer was picked and run into the bull gears and a little piece cut off, stopping the tractor until it was driven out. And after too long a story, that is one way those washers get chewed up. There are probably others.
