I am asking these questions on behalf of my father who just purchased a 1960 farmall cub for cutting grass and is trying to get it to run. Any input at all would be appreciated...1. Does anyone know how the starter switch is supposed to be isolated from the starter case and from the linkage? (in other words, is there a breakdown diagram of this somewhere that shows the proper layering of insulation maybe?) 2. This cub had been converted over to a twelve volt system. Now when it starts, the starter will get hot if it cranks to long. Does there exist an aftermarket 12v starter that we can buy or can the 6v starter be rewound to be 12v? If not, how long can we crank the motor before causing damage to the current 6v starter? 3. Finally, the cub seems to have an aftermarket carb w/ pull choke on it (the flange is noticably larger on the carb). Has anyone had experience with a slightly larger aftermarket carb? In other words, would it be worth trying to adjust this carb to run correctly or perhaps just order the original one? Thank you so much for any input to any or all of these questions... We don't have a ton of experience with old tractors like this, but we would like to get it running so we can get some grass cut! Thanks again.
