I had a 1934 gasoline F-12 and it had a dipstick. The funny thing is, I have a 1955 300 gasoline rowcrop, and it has the petcocks and NO dipstick? Doesn't make sense to me, but I'm sure some accountant somewhere thought of a good reason to go with petcocks and not a dipstick. -Z-

The gasoline models had dipsticks. The try-cocks were there not only to check the oil level, but also to drain off the excess distillate that slipped past the rings. Distillate was a very inefficient fuel but it was much cheaper than gasoline.

i have 2 very early w12 tractors [both 1934s], and both have dipsticks. oil pans have no drain cocks. think only the early models had them. pg
