Hi all
Im British and now live in France
When i left Britain in 2003 gas was about £3.80 a gallon!
The dollar v pound exchange rate is 1 dollar to .56 pound that would make gas in Britain £1.08 a gallon
Conversely it would make British gas the equivalent to $6.79 a gallon!!!
Think on
You have verrrrry cheap gas you lucky people
In France it is about £3.20 a gallon
Oh well
Mike

$1.99 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. But a couple of important factors haven't been discussed. For instance, the taxes included in the gas price, both federal and state. It's hard to compare between states without knowing that state's gas tax. And a comparision between the U.S. and other countries like Germany, England or even Canada is impossible since those governments tax gasoline exceptionally heavy to support social programs. Also, the price is not going up because of our gas usage, but because we are so generous. We in the U.S. have helped many third world countries to a second world status and now they want gas. Gas to power their factories, cars and make products to sell to us. Supply and demand. We are now competing with more consumers for the same amount of oil. And the price will continue to go up until the supply increases or until the demand goes down. Or maybe the government will lower or do away with the gas taxes.

If you think prices are high now wait until $3/gallon happens in the next 6-8 years. Mark my words, higher prices are going to come because of global demand. I hope I am wrong but time will tell.

Don't know what y'all griping about. In Halifax today reg gas was 99 cents per litre. Little over 4 litres to the US gallon. Even at par that makes it $4.00 a gallon and you think you are paying through the nose.

Not only that, but the darn gas you guys are paying $1.87 for, well some of that is coming from Canadian wells in Hibernia, as well as our wells in Alberta and Ontario. You pay $1.87 we pay $4.00 - you tell me who is getting the shaft....

I think y'all really need to re-evaluate. Again, here is another example of free trade at work for you!

Nice try Kenny. You seem to have conveniently forgotten that Clinton misued the strategic reserve and released it into the general market in order to hold down prices. Hardly a proper use for a "strategic reserve" nor is it governments business to interfer with market processes. Better luck with your smear jobs next time.

And,

It has a "monkey see, monkey do" effect. One sees someone gouging, so by golly, we gotta do it too.

Been to the grocery store lately? The wife and I went in last Friday. One medium filled cart came to $251!!

We are already using the Alaskan oil supply we are selling it to Japanese for more than what it is worth here. Bush is just lining his & his buddies pockets before it is over.

yeah pale rider anybody can hold stuff together with baling wire, but does that really fix the problem as a whole. no the wire eventually breaks again and your back to square one but this time you have no reserves!my point is he never should have touched the reserves,he should have tried to work with opec and the big oil companies a little harder.and by the way the pump today said 1.75 for diesel and 1.25 for off road diesel.

We were told in the last election that if we voted for Gore, gasoline would be $2.00 per gallon in two years, they didn't tell us what would happen if Gore wasn't elected. Seriously, we will be using our reserves as soon as the gas prices gets high enough to make production worthwhile.

Sorry, but according to the Constitution, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the Electoral College, Bush was elected. Those three evidently carry more weight than your opinion or mine.

So that's why we have $2.00 per gallon gasoline, it's because Gore WAS elected.

Off-rodd diesel is around 1.50, but regular diesel I paid 2.05 per gallon last time around. Seen it as cheap as 1.99

gas in michigan in the saginaw area is $1.97 for 87 grade.
I drive 100 miles a day and it sucks. one thing to remember is no matter who is president your not going to make 100% of the people happy 100% of the time. If one drops gas prices he will just make up for it some other way like higher taxes.

I just wish michigan would drop its damn gas tax of $.43 a gallon.

the other thing that makes me mad is people saying you don't complain about spending $3.00/gallon of milk but then I say no I don't I don't use 6 gallons of milk a day either.
