H - Farmall and shredder

hello to all, i am thinking of buying a used Rhino 7 ft.drag type shredder with 2 solid wheels in rear. also has a hydraulic cylinder to raise and lower height. rancher wants $900.00. He bought it used himself and is only selling because he got a bigger one. he said its in good shape and he said it sells for $3,000.00 new. i would be pulling it with my H farmall. How is the quality of the Rhino brand? can this tractor handle 7 ft.? thanks for all comments, good or bad. chainsaw

Will not say it won't work but 7 ft. Rino is a lot of cutter for H. Usually see them behind 706 IH 3020 JD etc.

I have a H with 37/16 bore and pull a 6' BMB shreader "now rhino", and it is a full load in 1st or 2nd gear when cutting tall brome grass short. (short being 2" to 3" tall) The price is right and i think you can pull it alright doing normal mowing. As someone else said you can always take a narrower cut.

Dave,

I'm assuming your H has the step-up pistons?

As you already know, this gives 'em about a 50% power increase over a straight H.

i had a 7 ft bush hog on a H and it worked fine. If the mower has a long drive shaft, it may cause the PTO to bang inside the transmission. If it has a 2 peice shaft you should have no trouble. Make sure you have a PTO override coupler on your PTO shaft. With a 7 ft mower you have a lot of power to push you tractor when you try to stop. As long a the mower is turning you can't stop unless you take the transmission out of gear. you can get the coupler at a tractor store for about $60. The H will do fine, unless your cuting stuff that is as high as the tractor

Good info there. I wanna do just as Chainsaw is doing and use the H on my mower too, when I get the loader pulled off it.

Nice to know they have enough snort to pull it.

Hi Chainsaw,

I think that Rhino is a good brand and yes, that is a very good price for it if it's in good shape.

I'm wondering if your H will pull it tho.

I put up a picture of my 7ft mower under "Crisis #407 Solved". For some reason, they seem wider when they are hooked up to the tractor. :>)

You will need an orc because you dont have lpto. Low gear may be too fast if you are shreding heavy stuff,but you can always pull out a little. Ya,go ahead and get it,work the H a little.
