I have an International 2504 backhoe that has the C-153 engine with a big bolt pattern. It recently went on me and i had to find a new engine. I came across a 153 out of a combine that was practicaly new, so i bought it. This was all before I knew there were two different bolt patterns to the 153 and this new engine ended up being a small pattern. My question is will the small pattern (i guess regular pattern) fit in a International or Farmall 504? Any help would be appreciated

Seeing as how nobody has responded, I will give it a shot. The below info is not guaranteed to be accurate.

I wasn't aware that the C-153 had two different bolt patterns but it makes sense. That basic motor began life in 1939 as a A engine. It was put in Bs and Cs and later "Super Sized". When it was adapted for use in the 340 and coupled to a TA center section, the bolt pattern had to be changed. The 504 is an upgraded 340. I would assume that any motor that would bolt up to a 340, 460, 504, 606, and 656 as well as other similar tractors would fit. This includes six cylinder motors. There is plently of space in a 504.

I wouldn't be surprised if H, SH, 300, and 350 motors also would bolt in. May have to change out flywheels and cluthces.

Talk to Mike at Steel Wheel Ranch. I am sure that he can solve your problems.
