I am thinking of resealing the oil pump on my Farmall H because I plan on doing the pan gasket. I have very good oil pressure now. Should I just leave well enough alone and just wash the pickup screen? If I reseal the oil pump, should I use a sealent on the gasket? Should I then put some (How much?) assembly lube on the gears in the pump? Thanks!!

John - I agree with the others - if you've got good oil pressure now, leave the pump alone!

The pickup/screen assembly however is easily removed from the pump for cleaning. Simply pull the cotter pin where it meets the pump cover and the pickup will slide right off.

The saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" applies here. Just clean the screen and check bolt torque. You may inadvertantly change clearance and lower your pressure causing yourself a problem. My opinion, Mike

If you have good oil pressure, don't do anything, except clean the pickup screen. But, if you do, you don't need sealant. Also the gaskets are very thin, and affect the clearance in the pump, so install the same number you take out.
