Since the search engine on the archives isn't back up, I'll ask instead of search. My '47 H throttle lever jumps out of the teeth in the high range, back down to mid range, of it's own accord. I've heard folks speak of getting a friction throttle lever but I'd just as soon keep what I've got, if I can get it to stay. Has anyone fixed this with just a new compression spring under the pivot? If so, might you know a NAPA part number on this? If somone can tell me replacing that spring will fix it, I'll just bring the spring down to NAPA and get the closest replacement - my IHC dealer is too far away.

the tooth on the lever is replaceable. IH dealer should have them in stock. A new tooth fixed mine

The replaceable tooth is only on the later Hs and Ms, the earlier ones did not have this feature.

This will not go over well with the correct crowd but it works for me. About 20 years ago was having trouble keeping throttle on my A fully open while bush hogging. So to temporarily solve problem until I could get new throttle plate I drilled 1/4 inch hole in plate just behind lever in full throttle position. Now throttle rests behind short 1/4 inch bolt when fully open Still intend to get new throttle plate when I have time and money.

Dave, You got it on NAPA. Just get a spring with a little more lead in its pencil! You can also refile the saw tooth notches on your throttle control.I did this on the brake on my A.

The catch on the lever also gets worn down, just build it up with your welder, and file it back to shape.
