Just finished overhauling a 560D. Oil pump primed , fuel lines bled, etc. Question I have is how do you get it fired up and also adjust the tappets cold and hot.

Bryan you will need to use the glow plugs, but on a rebuilt engine I crank it over a few times then set the valves at .020. Then I crank the engine untill I have smoke out the exaust, if you don't have smoke the glow plugs aren't going to do any good why use the battery on the plugs, if you don't have smoke bleed the fuel system, when you get smoke then heat the plugs it should start.

normal start drill 560D- glowplugs on 1 minute, fuel button in(run position), starter 10 seconds. pause 30 seconds if not started, repeat up to 4 times. If it hasn't started by then, something wrong or it's below freezing. Cold adjust valves to about .025/.030, run about 10 minutes fast idle, drive around 10 minutes, then reset to manual specs about .018? Check head bolt torque at same time, check for coolant and oil leaks, watch oil pressure and temperature. RN.
