While running, oil seeps from the distributor flange where it bolts to the motor block. Top hole is slotted (assumed for timing adjustment)and appears to tighten fine. The bottom hole is tapped for a 3/8" diameter bolt, which does not seem to tighten to the motor block....only tightens to the distributor flange??? Any help would be greatly appreciated..... .This is my first IH.
Thanks
Tony

Tony Without going out to look at the A, I think the bolts that hold the mag. dist. go in differnt. Seams the bottom bolt goes in the other way. Through the block and then into the flange. Morgan

I didn't go out to look at one, but I recall the slot at the bottom and the threaded hole at the top. Your distributor isn't bottom side up is it? The coil should be on top.

It appears the coil is at the top....I wonder, can the flange be seperated from the distributor and be turned 180 degrees??
Thanks Tony

Here's a link to the distributor mounting housing.

The top bolt goes through clip "11", and threads into the disributor housing from the front.

The bottom bolt passes forward, through the distributor adapter housing, and threads into the engine.

There were other makes of distributor changeovers (aftermarket) that got installed on these tractors, also.
