No Farmall M or Super M were built in Chicago, Rock Island Ill Farmall Works built them with a few years Super M were built in Louisville Ky to keep up with demand from parts supplied from Rock Island. Easy spotting is grill front emblem was square IH instead of winged Farmall, C264 engine instead of C248, most had pull rod for starting, brakes were disc type with cast outer cover that had a disc plug in center.

It's a Super M -- it has disk brakes, a 264 cu in engine, faster 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears, particularly 3rd and 4th. The choke rod attaches to the carb next to the block instead of the outside, etc. The F means it was built at the Farmall plant, L would mean Louisville. If it has the hyd reservoir under the gas tank, the hyd pump behind the distributer, and the battery under the seat it is a Stage 2, otherwise it does not have live hyd and is a Stage 1.

sounds like a super m number . 53 would be correct. It should be stamped SM on the plate too
