The governor spring on my H broke today. Lucky, the dealer was still open, had 3 on hand, and they were only $6(!) a piece. An hour later it was back at work.

If it had been Saturday afternoon, what then ? Steal one off the porch glider ? Is there something that will work in the Dorman box at the hardware store ? Is the length or strength more important ?

Thanks

Greg

At only $6 a piece you should have bought 2 and kept one in stock yourself. Besides if you have a spare on hand it'll never break again.

Best alternative is to keep a couple extra on hand, extra tractors that is ;^)

The tension has to be right. Th spring increases the rpm when you pull the throttle and the weights decrease the rpm. The two have to be in tune. You might luck out and get a different spring that would get you going at least temporarily. I usually keep an extra on hand.
