Guys - - have a 36 F-20 with the narrow front end. Like many F-20's, the steel wheels were cut off years ago and replaced with rubber (38's on the rear), which makes the tractor appear to run down hill. How is the front wheel spindle assembly attached to the vertical shaft in the steering assembly? It appears a pin goes thru (tapered & driven out from which side?)front to back, and a bolt head sticking out of the bottom of the spindle assembly. Is it feesible to make a male/female shaft extension for this beast to level it out ? Thanx for your thoughts ! Pete

Oh no, don't try to take it apart there! Take the gear off the top and drop the whole shaft out, then weld in a piece up higher inside the casting where there will be less strain on it.

Sorry, but that won't work. Adding inside the housing will only lift the steering box so it won't fit. Need to add between the spindle & the bottom bearing race, which supports the weight & determines height, outside the housing. My Dad put 36 inch rubber on his Regular about 50 years ago. Had to build up the front end twice. Machine shop did poor job first time, broke off in field. Second attempt held, at least until he quit farming & sold off 10 years later. I was just a teenager at the time, so not real sure , but think shop drilled post, spacer,& spindle for 2 dowel pins, then welded everything together.

it'll work. you just slide a spacer on the shaft the same length as the piece you weld in the shaft. Lots of them fixed that way.

I have a 1929 Regular done this way, and have a friend who did some earlier. He put in an 8" lift to even out 38" rear tires. It made a high-crop looking tractor. Kinda neat....
