Call me Sherlock Holmes, but I have another mystery. What is this Fast Hitch implement and what could it be used for?

That is the coupling beam etc. for converting a 184 planter to a one-point hitch. As pictured, you have the planter frame rail extensions fliped over the wrong way. They should be going back from where they are bolted to the coupling beam.

Jim, You are a master of archaic tractor knowledge. I would never have even guessed that. Thanks so much. You also id'd my mystery seat bracket so you are two for two. Maybe someone should organize a "Farmall Tractor Jeopardy show". I think that between you, Hugh and Stan (VA), we could have a pretty amazing event ;-)

Ramon: If you are refering to the single fast hitch fork, that is to challange your imagination on just what machine you are going to fabricate and use that for mounting. Surely in all our discussions over the past six months, I must have given you some ideas. Are you trying to make me out a failure? How about some of the photos I sent you. And I though with all the money spending ideas I was giving you, your wife would be hiring a hit man to come after me.

Hugh, You're underestimating me. Indeed, I am like a sponge for info as regards these old tractors. The mystery that I refer to on these pictures were the swinging brackets that are attached to the Fast Hitch fork. They are obviously meant to hold some type of equipment and I was hoping someone might have seen this item before. Worst case, if I never figure it out I'll just cut off the bracket and use the forks for another project. Several old Fast Hitch forks by themselves were included with my tractor sale and I already have some uses envisioned for them to include potentially attaching it to my old horse drawn hay rake. And don't worry, you are safe from my wife, she already spent the money on the hit man buying a chain to keep me tied to the house so I couldn't go off and chase any more tractor implements ;-)

Perhaps it's not clear from the original post but I was asking for an identification of a specific Fast Hitch implement/bracket (the picture of which I posted). I assure everyone that I am fully aware of what a single point Fast Hitch is, as well as how it operates ;-) Thanks Ramon

Ramon: Again I was not able to view this photo. I was just guessing from the photos you sent me. Could it be that you have a pair of forks formerly use as a 2 point to 3 point adapter kit.

If you guys are talking about a 1960's Farmall fast hitch, I can add something. Dad upgraded from a Super A to a 140 in the early 60's - the tractor came with a "fast hitch" setup which was bolted to the rear drawbar bolts on the rear wheel hubs with a pivot point and also attached to the rear hydraulic arms with a diagonal adjustment and had a receiver with a spring loaded retainer clip. The bottom plow, tiller, rotary mower, Cole planter, and disk harrow all had the "fast hitch" attachment which was basically a pointed arm with a little notch along the top which fit into the receiver on the tractor. You could hook up to the implements without getting off the tractor by simply backing into them. I hope this helps!!

Stan: I think we do already know what a single point fast is. My day bought a 130 in 1958. Today I have 130, 140 and Super A all with fast hitch and I have 14 implements for the fast hitch, half of which I fabricated. Over the past 45 years I have owned two other Super A and another 130. Most of these were bought to acquire fast hitch implements.

I have been in communication with Ramon for over 6 months and in my mind there is no question, he completely understands this hitch.

I'd guess that it is just part of something....a bracket that held the back of a belly-mower, etc. I look forward to hearing comments from more knowledgeable people.
