just had the generator rebuilt for my 43H and still don't think its right. They replaced the cutout with a regulator.I only get about 6.6-6.7 volts across the battery.I get 7 volts at the "A" terminal when grounding to the generator frame, but only 6.6-6.7 at the batt terminal on the regulator. Seems to me I should have to be getting 7 volts there to be getting it at the battery.I took the cover off the regulator the first night to see if all looked ok,I noticed that the taller set of contacts [right side] was sparking as it ran, tonight I took the cover off and no spark at these contacts. This weekend I'm going to clean and check every electrical connection from grille to drawbar and see what I can find. Also put in a new ammeter and it discharges when switch is turned on but barely moves past 0 when running.I've polarized it but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If I can't get this thing figured out over the holiday,it will be going back to the shop on tuesday. Thanks in advance for any suggestions and advice.

Roy - Punch below for the troubleshooting chart. If you follow it through it should locate the source of the problem

From your description however, good chance the problem is a tired generator.

Hope this helps!

Hi Roy, Go to page 13 on this discussion board and click on Eric that's having a generator problem on a Farmall M. Click on Bob M's message
he has a flow chart for troubleshooting generator
and regulator problems. It gives you a step by step procedure for troubleshooting. Have a nice 4th. Hal
PS: Your shop should've tested the generator and
regulator to see if is charging. I think the maximum charge should be around 8vdc.
