Hi I overhauled my H this winter and am in the process of getting it running. I timed it pretty close and it started thios morning and ran good for 30 min. Now it will not restart. Not even pop like it wants to. What could be the problem? Timing still offf just a little? How can I adjust it just a little? Also the radiator got pretty hot to the touch thats why I believe it is timing. Thanks
Matt

My 44 H did the same thing when I overhauled it. Ran kind of poorly for 20 minutes then died and was hotter than a firecracker. My mag timing was off 1 gear tooth on the front of the engine. If you have a distributer the timing is pretty easy to set. Sounds like a timing problem to me, I'd start with that if you have fuel and spark.

Timing is not that critical on these old tractors. If the timing is even close, they should start. Sounds like you are not getting any spark, or no gas. Have you checked to see you have gas flow to the carburetor??

did you check and see if you have the spark plug wires on right at the dist. cap? it is different than on the block.

Hi thanks for the reply. When I crank the engine over gas starts to drip from carb and the plugs are always wet if I choke it so I dont think fuel is an issue. What should I check in spark? I took the plug wire off and spun the engine over and it seems like it is only firing sometimes not in a pattern like yesterday. I just put new points in, and the rest was replaced last summer. Thanks for any help.

Your float hangs up, or you need a new needle and seat. Turn off the gas and drain the carb, wait a while, turn on the gas and try to start it without choking. Once it's flooded, it is darn near impossible to get it running again.

Clean & re-check the point adjustment.
Clean the inside of the distributor cap with an evaporating solvent.
Pull the coil to cap wire out of the cap and hold about 1/4" from a grounded surface when you want to check for spark. It should be bright blue & snappy.
