IH C temperature valve gap??

Just installed a new temperature gauge on the IH C and it runs at 200 degrees F after 15-20 minutes is this too hot? I can see the antifreeze circulating when the radiator cap is removed plus it sounds like the coolant is boiling. I cleaned out the radiator cooling fins with garden hose water and the fins are not clogged.

Also the valve gap seem excessive can anyone tell me what the valve gap should be? I don't know if this would cause the engine to run hot or not.

Finally did the C have a thermostat? If yes, I can check and make sure its open.

Thanks,
G

The C has a thermosyphon cooling system. The hot water rises up through the block and down through the radiator. It is not uncommon to hear them boil/bubble a little when they are hot. They are a non-pressurized system but with a good radiator cap on it it does have a little pressure on it. If you take the cap off when it is hot you may get a little more boiling.

The C does not have a thermostat in it.

The intake and exhaust valves are both set to 0.014" hot.
