H/M seat pan questions

Hello all;

I'm restoring a 1948 Long Model A tractor for the company that I work for (Long Agribusiness). It has a seat on it that is identical to the farmall H seat, with the short shock absorber and coil spring and everything. Unfortunately, the seat pan has a crack in it and rather than weld it up and sand blast it, i'm thinking of just replacing it with a new one (and saving the old one to work on later, of course).

My question is this: The pan that is on it is a smooth (unupholstered) steel pan, painted red, with 5 holes in it. Also, it appears that there are only TWO bolts attaching the pan to the seat assembly itself. All I can find as replacements are upholstered seats with canvas cushions and they are only listed as having a 4 bolt or rail style mounting option. What does this 2 bolt pattern classify as? Does anyone know if the unupholstered seat pans are being reproduced? I couldn't really seem to locate anything on this in the archives. Thanks!

Jeb

Check on eBay. There are lots of old tractor and implement seats there. You may find one close, or the exact one. I have an un-upholstered seat with the two mounting studs, but it has only three holes in the back. I can send a photo if needed.

the monroe seats with the shock absorber in the back used the seat with two mounting bolts.

Hey;

This is the traditional H seat with the large coil spring in the rear and the small shock between the spring and the tubular support. However, at the top of the tube, there are two angles with a series of holes in them (one angle on each side) so you can use the 2-hole seat and adjust it forward and backwards. I always found this to be redundant as there is another set of holes just like it at the base. I don't know why there would be two sets of fore/aft adjusting holes...one or the other would suffice. Still brings me back to the point of "are these seats available aftermarket?" Thanks.
