450 Wiring, w/o Ballast Resistor

We're bringing the ol' 450 (12v) back into service. A 12v coil with the internal ballast resistor is now available in the old style to match the original early numbered series. Since we don't need the ceramic resistor anymore, how do you wire the system ? There is one extra wire that would otherwise go to the resistor.

Red - Probably that extra wire leads back to an aux terminal on the starter solenoid. It�s purpose was to bypass the ballast resistor thus feeding 12 volts direct to the coil when then engine is cranking.

You can verify by putting a voltmeter or test light on the wire � it should show power only when the key is turned to the "start" position.

Anyway if that�s what it is, with an internally-ballasted coil that wire is not used. You can either tape off or remove it entirely.

However modesty suggests perhaps "12 volt Bob" or similar might be a more appropriate handle here...
