Is the H strong enough to lift round bales using the 3pt hitch? I plan on buying a Saginaw 3pt hitch for my H and would like to be able to move round bales with it, but don't want to break the H in half either. Anyone out there using an H for that or is it too small of a tractor. Don't need to be replacing axles...

Thanks,
Jason

I have a Saginaw 3 pt. on my 48 H. I have lifted a 1000 lbs with it, but the front end came up. With a 300lb fat guy on the front, it did fine. But the steering was armstrong power steering! Irv

Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to get the hitch and take a shot at it. That and I'm going to recruit my fat friend to help out. This board is great, thanks again.

I have a 3 pt on my H. It will lift the grass hay about 1000 lb. but the Alfalfa hay around 1700 lb. I go to a bigger tractor, dont want to break an axle. Mark

Jason, I have just got through moving about 40 5x4.5 bales with a 39 Farmall H down in northern Ar . I use two sets of front weights to hold it down .It's like anything just else use common sense. Ralph

The H will lift them, but the front end will come up on you , so figure on adding some front weights. I would say about 500 lbs. anyway.

I HAVE A 3 POINT ON MINE BUT I DON'T THINK IT HAS ENOUGH PUMP CAPACITY TO LIFT THAT MUCH WEIGHT.
