I have noticed some of these posts over the years, so I guess it is my turn to "impose" on you guys. A while ago my dog ran into the discs causing a small section on her leg to be peeled back. (It is about the size of a dollar folded in half). My question is, is there any home remedy I can put on her...balm, oil, anything like that. Rural King is still open, the vet isn't. Any advice is appreciated.....

Got her into the vet this morning. They said I could get her tomorow, but I thought I would let her stay 10 days. I figure the vet could do more for her if complications arose.

Glad to hear it. She'll be good as new. Had a dog once, she ran straight in front of a car traveling 40 mph. Severe head injury, blood from the nose and ears, numerous lacerations, concussion, shock, hair line fractured hip, lots of bruises. We rushed her to a vet. Doc took a look and shook his head, said he'd do his best but didn't hold much hope. She got thru emergency surgery. It was touch and go for a week but then she seemed to rally. She came back good as new after a month or so of R&R and manual leg therapy. We had to manually exercise her hind leg every day for weeks as her hip healed to avoid her ending up crippled. The vet pulled off a miracle with that dog.

Clean the wound real good, put some peroxide on it, dap dry with clean cloth and then superglue or use EMT gel on the wound.

It is amazing how well super glue works, used on my field/show dogs with no scars and humans also.

keep the would clean and occasionaly pour peroxide over it

It just the skin peeled back should be fine

You really need to get it sewed up. Is there an emergency vet clinic nearby or does your vet have an emergency number? If not, try putting some anitbiotic cream on it and lay the skin back in place until you can get the wound stitched tomorrow. This will keep bacteria from infecting it. Be sure you wrap it with gauze real good so the dog does not lick it and to keep the skin in place. Good luck.

If you have concern for the animal as you should have you need to get her to a vet asap to get the wound cleaned and disinfected and stitched up. She won't let you clean it as it needs to be. You might tape it gently for now but need to get to a vet asap.

..... .jesse, hi..... ..i believe that lee is correct and you should make every effort to get your pup proper medical care even if you have to travel outside your area to get it..... ...the wound needs real attention to heal properly and there is more than likely a need for antibiotics..... ...good luck to you and let us know how this turns out..... ....best wishes, bill
