Pics of a proper A seat

Hi all,

I have '45 A that I'm starting a restoration project on, and I've recently learned that the seat and seat support on it are not correct. (Thanks Hugh!) A previous owner had made an inventive but not particularly well engineered 3pt hitch for it, and the hitch got in the way of the seat support, so it was replaced with what looks to me like a C/H/M seat -- has the spring and shock setup. Well, that seat puts the driver awfully close to the steering wheel...it's definitely an acrobatic act to get on/off this tractor ;-).

I've removed the hitch, and I'd like to return the A to its original seat, so off to the books I went to get a look. I can tell from the pics that there was sort of a cross support underneath the seat, but none of my books have a good enough pic for me to try fabricating the support.

That's a long-winded way of asking if anyone who has an A (or Super A?) has some pics of their seat and seat support you'd be willing to share? Thanks!

- David

Steve & Dave,

Thanks! The side support pieces are still there, so I think I'm good to go that way.

You can buy new all of the seat parts except the support brackets. Are these still on the tractor? The serial number tag is on the left seat support. Dave.

Hugh -- thanks for the pic. Aha! I see...that thing I thought was a crossbar is really a tool box. Gotcha. In that case, I do have the side support pieces still in place...just need the two leaf springs and a set that will accept them. Thanks!

David: I see you have some suggestions on where to go for the pieces. I can't improve on that.
