Farmall Super C Governor install mishap...Help!!!!

I pulled the governor cover and weight gear out of my 1951 Farmall Super C. It was really gunked up in there. I had to replace the needle bearings
and a bunch of springs and levers. I needed to rebuild it for sure. It was very sloppy.

Then I realized I turned the crankshaft over a couple of times. Oops!

I rebuilt the governor and replaced all of the nuts and parts.

As I removed the distributor assembly to get the governor weight gear assembly back in, lined up with the notch in the gear, the little drive cog in the back of the distributor dropped to the ground.

How do I get all of this back together properly? Can I simply put the little drive gear back into the distributor or do I need to time it?

Any helpful hints or tricks to this?

I may be the only guy out there that yanks the distributor off and throws in a magneto to get it to run.

Any and all help..... ..... ..... ..Greatly Appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Scott

Scott, find TDC on compression of #1 cylinder. Move your rotor button to line up with #1 plug wire. Put the distributer drive in to line up with the notch in the driving gear of the governor. This will get you close, you then need to time the distributer by loosening the clamping bolts at the base of the distibuter body, and timing to TDC. IE, roll the distributer till you get a spark at #1 plug when the engine is at TDC on #1.
