I was fixing the grill of my A, which was just delivered about an hour ago, and I broke the head off a bolt that hold the grill in place on the left side of the tractor! What do I do?

I have taken out a lot of broken bolts
If you broke the bolt screwing it in & it turns freely till the head hit the grille & over torque it the bolt & snapped off the head
most of the time they come out easy
If you the bolt was hard to turn from the start & had to wrench it down or hit bottom of the hole
and twisted it off LAST thing you want to do is use a EZ out when the EZOut brakes off thin you have Big problens EZOut is hard & don'drill good
best way to get it out is to drill it it out
& pick the pices out & run a tap to chase the threads

I brought a broken bolt out the other day by cutting a screw driver slot in it with a dremel then just screwing it out, theres a first time for everything.

Solvent. Spray the portion of the bolt/nut inside the frame/support and outside. Every day - wait a few days to a week.

If it is not a stud -can you reach inside frame/support and reach the the remainder of the bolt. If you, can perhaps you can get a pair of pliers or vise grips on the portion sticking beyond the nut and turn the bolt, bringing it in.

If it is a stud - try any of the other suggestions.

If can reach the back of the broken bolt and there is a nut spot welded to the support/frame and all else fails. Drill out the bolt and replace it with another longer bolt, nut and lock washer.

I have had good luck drilling a center hole in broken bolts and then taking a tear dropped shaped carbide cutter chucked into a drill. Carefully machine out the remainder of the bolt by wallowing the cutter around, taking care to not get into the threads. Take the correct size tap and carefully cut the remaining bolt threads out of the casting. Do not force the tap but rather rock it back and forth to clear the chips. Remember, if you totally mess it up there is always a HeliCoil to rescue you.

Go purchase a reverse rotation drill bit, center punch the broken portion, set your drill to counter-clockwise and most times the broken bolt will walk itself right out.

Get the right size easy out and bit. Drill the hole in the bolt, then use easy out to back out the broken bolt.

Before you go to drilling it, try to walk it out with a center punch and hammer. Just tap around the perimeter to try and brake it loose, if that fails, drill to ez out size, if it's still too tight, then step drill it out to the correct tap drill size.

if its a stud u can step drill out a hole large enough to fit a suringe into. fill the suringe with pb blaster or what have you. wait for a day to a week. after each day check the broken stude to see if u can move it with an ez out or possibly a puch/chisel and a hammer. if u still cannot get it out the only 2 solutions i can think of is to step dril it out even furtheruntil close to the threads and try to split it in two pieces with a puch/chisel and hammer or tap it out.
