Not really a Farmall question, but I am trying to speed up my mower(farmall junior)there is a 4 inch pulley on the motor, and a 7 inch on tranny, If I get an eight inch on front and a 3and a half on back will that double the speed?just curious...(my wife won't let me get a golf cart or 4-wheeler, so i am gonna try this out...Scoob

just increase the size of the motor pulley an inch or two and leave the trans pulley alone.

the 4" pulley turns the 7" pulley o.57 times and the 8" will turn the 3" 2.66 times so that would increase the speed 4.66 times. If you got the HP you better hang on.

That will more than quadruple your speed. The formula I have is RPM of Driver over(or divided by) RPM of Driven Equals(=) Diameter of driven over Diameter of driver.

Using the RPM of 750 for the driver, your rear pulley would turn at ~428.5 RPMs. With your suggested change, it'll turn at 1714 RPMs.

If you are wanting to double your speed compared to your current set up, you can keep the same size driver and replace the driven with your 3.5" sheave. That'll get ya pretty close(~857 RPM using the 750 input RPM above).
