The W 40 Mc Cormick may have electric start as early as 1935. I have seen the W 40 with electric start and lights.

It was not available for the A/B when they were first introduced.

The W-30 parts book shows an Electric Start option but the F-30 parts book does not.

I think it was available on some of the F series (someone else can answer for sure) but did not come into widespread use until the letter series began in 1939. Took a while for it to catch on.
