Where does the Positive cable hook up?

When I was cleaning the starter up, I took the band off to look at the brushes. It would appear that a paper material came off and desintigrated. Was I seeing things? Do I need to replace it...where do I get it?

I don't know offhand where the grounded battery cable bolts to the frame on a BN. However a buddy of mine has a restored BN - I will inquire and get back to you if you wish...

That "paper" under the starter commutator dust band acts as a gasket to keep dust, water, etc out of the starter. Unless you are working your tractor or leaving it outdoors, you can get by without it. Or you can make your own gasket. I do it by applying a layer or two of electrical tape to the inside of the dust band then trimming around the edges with an exacto knife.

I wanted to make Churchville with the BN, but life got in the way....I did have quite a few AC's in my driveway leading up to and after the pageant of steam. Teased all my AC buddies I was gonna dust them with 2150 overspray....lol.

She's looking good. hopefully I can get here running and charging. I may be asking for advice.

Anyway a 3 ohm ceramic resistor should work fine in place of the busted 3.5 ohm on your light switch. ...Bob M
