Hi Guys,

I needed a rear combination light for my 686.

Local supplier said he found one in a salvage yard somewhere.

This is what I got for my $50. Looks like an old 6 volt M or H rear lite with the little switch on it.

The local guy here says no, that I can wire it up and make it work 'cause it probably came off of a 560, 400, etc., etc.

The big bulb is a "1133" and the little one says "TS".

Is this a 12 volt light? Sure doesn't look like it to me 'cause the wiring is even cloth covered.

Allan

Allan, the one you got with the bracket fits on the side of the battery box on a Super MTA or 400 and similar tractors. They sell for that and more on ebay all the time. On the other hand if you had bought it from me I would gladly refund your money.

I would just reject that and get my money back, I'd just tell em it's not what I was expecting, and if an attitude were to be encounered I would be looking for another supplier. That's not what you wanted plain and simple. I could see it for maybe $20 and I think that's stretching. For $50 I'd surely want the original piece and that's stretching too because I can't really see that good these dayts..

An 1133 is a 6-volt bulb (an 1156 is the 12-volt equivalent). Before you get too horsey, that unit looks to be in pretty good shape. Those combo rear lights frequently sell for well over $50 on Ebay. A reproduction from OEM is $87.00. So, if you can"t get your money back, you could always sell it again.

I agree, condition seems fair. Guy already has prices for what he wants for same $$. If that's what he wanted I might see it but they sold him goods that obviously wasn't what he ordered. He did take it home though, hmm. I don't know, folks on e-bay always seem to bid at 2wice what a things worth. $50 for that! I think one might find it cheaper. If that's fair, I'm out lookin for junk tractors!!!!

Hi Dave,

Yep, sure looks like an old system to me. Maybe I'll wire 'er up to the old H and have dual lights on the back of it. :>)

My 686 has a sealed beam type light with the 3 prong plug like yours. Its the same as the one on my open station 1066 so one from any 56, 66 or 86 series on should be the same. I'll take a look at it and see if I can find a part number.

Casey,

I'm not following you. Are you saying that the part number for the light you gave will fit a 686?

My guy says that IH has discontinued the complete light assy.

This is the 'three prong' plug for my tractor and they (to my mind) were all the same from the 656 on up (without cab). One wire for the flood light, one wire for the red tail and another wire connection for a ground.

The "switching" takes place at the light switch and not on the light itself. Plus, I'm sure it should be a 'sealed beam' type.

Help again?

Allan

Hey Casey,

Yep, your guy is right.

Just ordered it brand new on a drop ship from CaseIH and it's $2 cheaper than this piece of 1940's memorabilia that I bit into.

How did McArthur put it , "I shall return"? :>)

Thanks for your help.

Allan

Allen sure looks like 6v to me but as for a light if you have 12v bulb on 12v system it should work.

The bracket and little switch do look a lot like the rear light on my 350.
