I was told that some of the M farmall were made in Englad and imported and that you could tell by the serial number. Is this true and if so how can you tell?

To myknowledge to British Ms were imported to the US. The serial tag would say (as already mentioned by Sammy) it would be a BM or other prefix. The tag itself would say made by IH of Great Britain.I'm pretty sure they had Lucas ignitions in all tractors (which of course could be replaced). Your friend is probably talking about the B-450, which was imported here, but is considerably different looking than an American Farmall 450- the B-450 looks more like an M.
