I have a metal belt pully. It looks like it will bolt right up to my 48M. Did some come with steel pullys or does the one I have go with another Farmall? I got it at an auction and thought it would look good on the M because the one on it is the paper kind and is looking bad. The show M Farmalls that I have seen does not have the steel pullys. I Am going to show mine when I complete the restoration and did not want to be historicaly wrong with this. Thanks.

My '43 H came with a Rockwood pulley. My '49 M came with a steel one.

If I remember right, the company that made the fiber belt pulleys went out of business, so International ordered/made cast-iron ones.

By chance I was just looking at M belt pulleys in parts book. They show 5 different pulleys from 6 1/2 to 13 inch diameter. They do not specify where they are fiber or steel but one in illustration looks like steel.

the cast iron pulley was an option, although most came with the rockwood pulley.

What would be the deciding factor in choosing metal or fiber pulley? I remember a Case with metal pulleyas standard I think, and lots of Farmalls with the fiber pulley. I would think the fiber would have better "traction" under a load. Thanks for your information.

little john, we have used our 15-30 and regulars on threshing machines every now and then. The cast works just as well as the wood, it is the steel pullies that always seem to be hard to get to "bite." They seem to slip a little under load and can't keep the rpms constant.
