Well for the second year now, I had the only Farmall MD or gas starting diesel Farmall at the Boone County Fair, Belvidere, Illinois. There were 240 Classic tractors on display this year, most of which were Farmalls as International Harvester was the featured tractor this year. The MD is a great eye catcher. People don't understand why it has a distributor on one side and injection pump on the other side. It sure draws the strangest looks and questions! (Here is a picture I took of some of the tractors at the fair.)

Hi Ken,

I"m the one who posted the picture of the MD in the Vintage Photos section. I would still like to restore that one, but like I said before, it"s in very bad shape.

By the way, did you get that carb kit you needed for yours from Bates? I hadn"t seen one on there when I looked, but I haven"t been there for a while.

Well, someday if I get some money, maybe I"ll make an attempt. Probably go at it SLOWLY to spread out the cost.

Hi Nathan...I called Bates Corp. and they have the needle and seat for the carb. BUT the price for those two little parts is...50 bucks!!! I guess they are made of gold!! I may just try to lap the old one in with some lapping compond to see if that helps. I just have to remember to shut the gas off after the tractor is running on diesel. The main thing is to make sure I have the gas off when I stop the tractor or it floods the engine and it's hard to start.
