I have an H Farmall s/n FBH 385109 XI (1952-1953). I started stripping the paint and came to a layer of white, could this have possibly been a promotional demonstrator that the factory painted white? I've seen white ones before but thought they were on older models.

No H's were part of the Factory's 1950 white promotional program. Super A's, C's & Cubs only, according to Guy Fay, who has done extensive research on this subject. He wrote an excellent article about this in Red Power a year or so ago.

IH did paint tractors other colors than red for special orders, and dealers of course would paint tractors any color a customer wanted, if the customer bought enough tractors, or paid for it.
Your H may very well have been white at one time.

I"m pretty sure that demonstraters were held to 1950 Cubs, A"s maybe B"s and C"s only. Early 1950 serial #"s. Your H might have been painted a different color years ago or something like that.

In 1950, I'm pretty sure that, as a dealer, Dad had painted at least one M and one H white, to match the other demo's. My guess is that he wasn't the first, or the only, dealer in the nation to do this. But they just weren't FACTORY white demo's.
