I think I have a Triangular base PTO on my '41 H. I would like to know what the shield looks like for this version of PTO. There was a thread on this forum back in February that had pictures of the different types of PTO bases and shields, but the photos are no longer accessable. Does anyone still have a photo? Thanks in advance
Dave

I am not sure excatly what you mean but if the bolt patteren is a triangle with the one bolt hole at the top thats normal You can use the squaresh horseshoe shaped or the small round that just goes over the pto its self. JON

Yep! That's what I was talking about. What got me thinking about this is looking at shields on ebay that have cutouts and different shapes. My PTO has a long lever from the control rod to the PTO. This lever moves in a plane along the back of the differential housing. All the PTOs I see in the photos and operators manual have a short lever that rests along side of the shaft. None of my catalogs show these notches in new shields. My only worry is that I will get the wrong one and be stuck with it. If it is only a matter of making something do the job, I could make a shield easy. But I would like to restore to near original as possible.
Thanks Dave

The shield for SN 15878-117999 has a cutout on the top/left side of the front of the shield for the control rod. Not sure of the bolt pattern, If a newer one fits, you have to make the cutout or reroute the control rod somehow.

I think I will have to save up for the parts list book. It has more information than all of the other manuals combined!

I think I know what you are saying My SM is that way . I bought one for it on Ebay and I put it on and the pto lever would hit and keep disengaging on me so I took it off and shimmed it out a little. I would imagine that you would want to go with the short pull lever and the square looking one on ebay I think that would be the origanel for an H I also sell a aftermarket if your interested. JON
