I have a farmall C that I have installed a quick hitch draw bar on and still can't get it to lift the draw bar off the ground. The linkage is hooked to the lift arms toward the front but they will not travel enough to lift the draw bar off the ground. It also has a hyd. cyl. toward the back of the draw bar , where does that go and what does it do? HHHEEEEELLLLLPPPPP P!!!!!

Scotty: You have been agonizing over this for some time now. Are you refering to Fast Hitch by chance, as your wording this time has tipped me off to thinking so. Is this Fast Hitch an add on to the Farmall C. To operate this hitch your tractor if original, needs a remote valve. The remote valve would be located where pipes from pump enter the touch control system. The control lever for this valve mounts on opposite of throttle lever from the touch control levers, which control the rockshafts on either side of fuel tank. There would need to be plumbing running from the remote valve back under seat to the lift cylinder. If you will respond to this I think someone on here may be able to sort this out for you. I'm not necessarily saying me, as there are guys on here more familiar with C and SC than I. I am certain we can help, just need to know a bit more.

Thanks Hugh! That makes the muddy water a lot clearer. The hyd cyl is hooked to the draw bar and the other end hooks to a round rod that hooks to the "U" looking piece and when the cyl. pushes or pulls on that it lifts or lowers the draw bar. Very good , it's hard to fix stuff without looking at it but you've got the wheel back on the cart. The end of the cyl that extends out, does that hook to any thing to keep it in a fixed position? Thanks Hugh!

Scotty: By fixed position you mean to hold drawbar at a constant level while while using as such. These systems used a check valve and were held by hydraulics. As a couple of the other guys suggested you need a manual to give you all the functions and adjustments of this hitch. It is a bit more complicated than we will ever describe over the net, plus a picture is worth a thousand words.

Hugh: By fixed postion I meant that the end of the hyd cyl that extends out flops down on the draw bar and just lays there. Is that end of the cyl suppose to be in a up right anchored vertical postion in order for it to lift the draw bar or does it just flop on top of the draw bar and it changes postions when the cyl moves in and out. Thanks Scotty

Scotty: Both ends of the lift cylinder should be anchored by pins. This is where that picture would be worth the thousand words. If you go to Farmall photo gallery, type in Super C, or 200, you may just run across one showing a rear view. I looked a bit couple of hours ago, problem is most guys take photos of front of tractor.

Scotty, The hyd. Cyl is what "lifts" the fast hitch and therefore anything that is attatched to i;ie your draw bar. The linkages that attatch to the hyd. unit under the gas tank only control the left and right tilting and the cutting angles of say a grader blade, plow and such.

Thanks Mark, you"ve hooked me up! One end of the cyl is hooked to the draw bar and the other end hooks to a round bar that has a eye on the end that hooks to the big "U" looking piece and when the cyl pushes out that pushes or pulls the lever that hooks to the "U" piece which lifts the draw bar ...WOW!... and the other part tilts the bar just like you said! You mentioned grader blade, is this some thing that I may be able to find ? A grader blade would be great for this tractor but do i have to make some thing or is this a attachment that would be avlaible for the fast hitch that I could hopefuly find some where? Thanks Mark!

fast hitch inplements in reply to Scotty, 09-26-2004 12:56:17
I doubt anybody still makes implements for a Fast Hitch, but there are plenty around. They use the same prongs as your drawbar. I had a back blade a few years ago but sold it. Call a few Case/IH dealers and junkyards.

Also do yourself a big favor and get an owner's manual. There are times when the hitch should be controlled by the cylinder, and times when it should "float". A blade will lift the rear wheels right off the ground if you don't have it set to float.

Thanks Tom, that's what I was asking, if there was a factory grading blade that was available when this hitch first came out. That's cool! Now I'm in search for a fast hitch grader blade, Any body got one for sale?....Thanks for your help
