You can also look for the s/n behind the distributor (small letters and numbers). Took me awhile to find it on my Super C. Also, casting numbers in the format of 3-28-X will help determine the year. This indicates the month-day-year; X indicates 1952 and it is sequential (that is, W=1951, Y=1953). The casting codes are on all of the major castings, including the wheels, and will tell you when the casting was made, not necessarily the same model as the tractor. But if it is 1952 or later, you have a Super C. The other cast numbers ending in R1 or R2 are part numbers. As for appearance: Super C has curved brake and clutch pedals; C is straight or nearly so. Super C has disc brakes The hole for the starting crank is a little lower on the Super C because of the taller radiator; on the C the top of the hole is about even with the bottom of the last slot on the grill. The only problem with judging by appearance, although rare, some very late C's had all of the "signs" of the Super C, but still carried C serial numbers. I've seen one myself. According to IH literature, the Super C had many internal improvements, such as heavier castings, etc. Good luck, Bill
