Hi Diesel Bob, are you referring to a 574, 674 style tractors?

If so here is a post from CEB:

The parking brake is actually a band that goes around a shaft inside the tranny. A cable hooks to the band and when you pull up on the lever it tightens the band around the shaft. You can adjust the cable, but if its already adjusted all the way, then you are going to need to replace the fiber band in the tranny. What happens is that operators forget to disengage the parking brake and run the tractor with it on, thus tearing up the band.
To remove the band, you will need remove the transmission top cover. this requires removing the seat assembly, 3 point arms from the back, and the fuel tank. You also have to loosen up at least one fender to get enough room to pull the fuel tank since the fenders bolt to the tank. There are several electrical connections and hydraulic lines that need to be disconnected also. The band is a pain to remove as there isn't much room to work in there. Overall, it can be done if you have some time and patience.

There is also one about 10 pages forward under the heading of 484 brakes.

Good luck
